Sometimes I would love to have a job where I could take a day off, and not have to worry about coverage.

EDIT: to match poll.

Five man team with an on-call phone. We can all call in as long as someone can answer the phone and respond in four hours. =) We have two SysAdmin openings if anyone is interested.

Nope.

Doesn't help we've got 11 12hour shifts(Sunday night until Saturday morning) and only have 4 people plus one in training.

Job One: Yup, I just flip the sign and go home and make myself a sammich.
Job Two: I only go there when the Doctor needs me.
Job Three: Not a chance in H311.

Aww I screwed up the poll because I didn't pay attention and you reversed the question from the topic summary. -1 no, +1 yes.

Luckily this is the first job where I can say....I can take a day off at any time without needing someone to cover for me or having to give any type of advance notice. Being the systems admin has it's perks. Of course if anything happens while I'm off, my cell phone rings constantly but that rarely happens now that I have actually upgraded our company to the 21st century with all of our servers and network backbone.

I can't take a day off work without someone calling my cell or emailing me. Blackberries are nice but the company leash is too long. :(

I clicked yes because your poll sucks.

Anyway, I actually took of yesterday. The fiance and I wanted to do some things, so we decided to take off. All it takes is a text message to someone at the office. I don't have to ask for permission. It's one of the benefits of being a consultant and self-employed.

No way. We (the outgoing shift) can't even leave at the end of the shift unless we have a complete crew coming on or NOD approval.
