I have a messed up FIC AN11 motherboard. It was purchased a week ago. I lost the receipt, want to return it but Frys won't accept it. Can I buy an identical motherboard and swap out the new and put in the old? It's the exact same motherboard.

No! That's fraud. Please do not ask for support for a fraudulent activity on this board again.

there was a similar thread like this about a guy with a broken xbox. His warranty expired and someone suggested he buy a new one, swap the old one, then return the old one. That person who suggested it was given a vacation =|

It works if your motherboard is not too old and dusted.

however, I would not recommend since it is considered as fraud.

I JUST BOUGHT the board LAST week! It didn't work when I installed it. It's just that I lost my receipt and Frys won't take it. The board is BRAND NEW. There is no dust. Super brand new. I tried to be nice about it, but they won't accept it due to the fact that I don't have a receipt. I don't even know why they ask for your phone number when you get a CPU/MB combo for. It's not like they are going to do anything about it when something goes wrong.

It doesn't matter if you're the POPE, it's still fraud.

Your only option now is to call up FIC and RMA it. If they'll do an advanced RMA, you'll be motherboard-less for maybe 6 days.

Sux to be you. Shouldn't have lost your receipt or else Fry's would have taken it back, no questions asked.

I should have paid with my debit card. At least they would have kept THAT on file.

If you bought it with a credit or debt card, you may be able to get your purchase tranced and have another recipt issued so you can return it.

NM, saw the post above. Sorry. Chances are it will work, but the consequence of if it doesnt is very very dire.

I believe that Fry's has your MB serial # on the receipt. When you return, they'll check that # on the receipt with the # on the box and on the MB.
Your transaction is still in their system. If they refused to return you the $$, you can ask them for a store credit or just an exchange. Hopefully you'll find a good understandable guy who's willing to check your record. You might need to talk to a manager. Most of them are very lazy and careless.

Everything you go out to the register and purchase a CPU/MB combo, you have to sign a release form. I signed it, with my name and everything on it with the purchase date and what I purchased. I should at least get an exchange.

How did you pay for it? If you payed by anything other than cash, you should had your check book or CC company can verify the purchase. If I remember correctly, Fry's also puts your info in their system, so they may have a record of your purchase, too.

Instead of trying to scam them, try asking politely for their help. If a CSR won't help, ask to see the manager. I've done this before. If they have the records, there's no reason they shouldn't help you, especially since all you're looking for is an exchange.
