Can you stop the browser from reloading the same background?

I have multiple pages with the same background... a rather large file that takes up the whole screen. Is there some way to prevent the browser from having to re-download the same background image for every page they go to?

to my knowledge that is not done, if the user has their system set to very low cache then windows dumps the image quickly, however if they have it set for optimal use, then the browser does not download the image everytime, but just does it once and reuses it from the temp internet files folders.

you can actually set and image to be re-donwloaded everytime but putting a "no cache" tag on it.
