Can you still play 1st person 3D shooters?

Back in the day I was all into 1st person 3D shooters, namely Duke Nukem and Quake II. Then I stopped during mid highschool and now in my sr. year of college.

I wanted to check out the awesome graphics of a modern day game. So I downloaded quake 4 demo and I can't play the game for more then 5 minutes without getting nauseous and dizzy and wanting to puke!!

It has nothing to do with graphic gore, but just running around in circles in a 3d environment. I suppose you could say I'm getting "motion sickness" even though I'm not moving.

Do any of you get this?? Maybe I'm getting old? ...but it's so frustrating and annoying, I just can't play with out wanting to puke, I literally have to go to the bathroom and run some cold water.

Try lowering your mouse sensitivity? 😛 I dunno. I have a friend who can't do FPSes either for the same reason. He's like 25.

I started back with Wolfenstein 3d, but HL2 was the first FPS to ever make me nauseous.

Yeah, most fps dont do anything to me but for some reason hl2 always made me naseous.

It's because POV of HL2 is less than 90 degrees I think. There are ways to change the fov through the console and I find that a fov of 90-110 degrees helps. CSS has a fov on 90 degrees and I don't have a problem with it.

I've never gotten sick, and I've been playing them since Wolf 3D.

The only person I know personally is my friend, she can't watch for very long before she has to look away or else she gets sick.

Except my buddy has been sufferin from this since he was 16 or so. He's 19 now. It helps for him if you turn the bob off.

haha, I love arrogant thread crappers

The strange thing is, I was fine playing FPS, I mean of course I played Wolfenstein, the original Doom, Mech Warrior, etc... But the games that I became an addict to were q2 and duke nukem, ctf, etc...never had any problems what so ever, in fact I had friends who got sick from just watching.

...Then years later I play again, and I get sick!

Will adjust settings accordingly, see if it improves.

I have been playing FPS (yah for Wolf3D and DOOM) since early 1992 and have never had any issues with feeling sick, although I remember my friends used to refused to play DOOM v1.6 on my old 386DX/8MB setup because they reckoned it used to give them motion sickness, all I remember was that it wasn't super smooth, but it wasn't choppy either just in the middle(probably at the 30fps mark), I could never figure out how it made them sick😕

oh damn that must suck.

I'm 23 and I've never played any game that gave me motion sickness.
