Can you still make free PC to PC calls with net2phone?

Does anybody know if you can make free pc to pc calls with net2phone, or any other software out there that actually works? I know DialPad used to be able to do it, but I haven't touched these things in at least 2 years, and it seems like even free pc to pc calls has gone the way of the DoDo. Those sites don't give out info about pc to pc for free either (or at least I can't find any such info). HELP. International phone bill's killing me!

Naah...I dont think so...most of the free services have gone paid....I doubt if there are any existing free pc to phone services anymore

What about Pc to Pc ? That's what DialPad used to be able to do. Anybody get any of these things working on Pc to Pc calls for free worldwide?

Speak Freely

Speak Freely is the best PC-to-PC voice chat client I've found. And it's open source so it's not going to "go pay", though it's not in active development anymore. Works great as it is though 🙂

Net2phone went to charging by the minute.
Actually the company SUCKS. There is virtually no way you can call them on the phone anymore. All correspondence is e-mail.
Then they have the balls to ask you to send a copy of your credit card statement.
I've see horror stories about people being charged more per minute than they were supposed to and never being able to get satisfaction.
Also, if you don't use your minutes after a certain amount of time they wipe them out...

AGAIN, this company SUCKS!

Better bet is a SAMS or COSTCO phone card.

Thanks to all that replied with useful info (i.e. not Human2k,

Net2Phone PC-to-PC calls are still free, AFAIK. Setting up the account requires a credit card, but if you only use PC-to-PC calling, there's no charge. (Their web site is not very clear about fees for PC-to-PC calls). I use an Actiontec Internet Phone Wizard USB, about $40, which enables using a regular telephone for either PC-to-PC or PC-to-phone calling.
The Net2Phone software must be installed on both computers, for PC-to-PC calls to work.
Also, be sure to run SpybotS&D after installing the Net2Phone software, to disable their "Bargain Buddy" spyware/junkware.

MSN messenger will give you PC to PC voice for free. AOL...a bunch of other too.

The sound quailty is absolutely horrible, though. Speak Freely has very high quality sound. The only people I call also have broadband, though, so I honestly don't know what the quality is like over a dialup connection. I know it doesn't use even a drop of my bandwidth to talk though. I regularly multiplayer game with a few friends and we use Speak Freely without a problem.

No spyware in it either. I definitely don't think I'll ever see a better voice chat program than Speak Freely 🙂
