Can you spare a Socket 7 CPU?

Hi there,

Does anyone here have a Socket 7 CPU laying around someplace, gathering dust? Any speed upwards of 166 MHz would be good.

Like some of you may know, I'm involved in a charitable project, sending second-hand computers to poor families in Eastern Europe (Romania has lately been my target, thanks to the involvement of their diplomatic personnel)...

Someone gave me a barebones Pavilion 6640, for which other donations provided a HD, floppy, RAM and CD-ROM... but I still don't have a CPU, except for an old P-120...

If you have a CPU that you don't use, please let me know... Sending it over would just require an 85 cents postage... It would make a child happy.

Thanks much in advance!

You may also want to try the giveaway thread under the FS/T forum. I'll check at work, we may have something sitting around.

Kensai, I'm in Ottawa, and I recently had a CPU shipped over from the States... it was 85 cents U.S.... I doubt shipping internally would be more than 90 cents Canadian. 🙂

And unfortunately, we all live in interesting times, don't we?

Kensai: OMG, don't do that... if you can send me a CPU, just insert the pins in a bit of polyurethane or styrofoam, and put it in a small regular envelope hardened with a bit of scotch tape...

BTW, I saw you live in Yellowknife - I actually applied for a job there with Parks Canada, but didn't get it, unfortunately...

I like this.

Sorry I don't have any spare CPUs lying around, but I hope you do well in your efforts. Good luck!
