Can you slipstream drivers in MCE2005?

I'm assuming MCE2005 is just XP with additional functionality, right? What worries me is that the MCE install uses 3 CDs. I don't want to mess anything up.

I will need to slipstream SATA drivers (using nLite) for the install b/c I don't have a floppy.

Should not be a problem, right? Thanks.

You should be fine to slipstream into the 1st CD as this is the actual Windows XP setup. The 2nd CD, from what I understand houses the actual MCE components and the 3rd CD is just the extracted XP SP2 files.

Thanks 2canSAM. I was actually unaware as to what files were on what CD. So the 3rd CD is just the unzipped SP2? 😕 What would I use that for? I guess maybe if I needed a specific driver/.dll file?

Yeah during the install, after entering your name, key and all that you will be prompted to enter the 2nd CD, then a few minutes later it will ask for the Windows XP Service Pack 2 cd, that is cd 3, then it will go back to wanting cd 1 and then finish. I am trying to get all 3 setup on one dvd but as of yet no luck.

Have you tried NLite? I know for sure it'll integrate SP2. Not sure how to integrate applications (MCE) though. Heh, actually, I've considered the same issue in the past. I'd love to slipstream Office, my .PST files and a bunch of other stuff. 🙂

I dunno about across CDs, but my old Dell 8400 came with an OEM MCE2005 DVD. I was easily able to slipstream drivers, various applications/add-ons and post-sp2 hotfix packs into a new install disc, using nlite. No Problems at all.

Easiest to simply download nLite, read its' guide on how to integrate with MCE2005, and put everything on a DVD. Last I did mine I think it was around 1GB, maybe a bit more with all my drivers and such.

I thought the MCE 2005 install prompts were borked and asked for the wrong CDs
