Can you sign up for itunes without a credit card(or paypal)

My mom wants me to set her up and itunes account. But during accoutn creatin it asks for a credit card. She does not want to give out her credit card info. I have tried to check the itunes faq, and one of the questions it has is, do I need a credit card to use itunes" the answer was no, but it was talking about to buy songs, not create an account. She plans to use the music cards to buy songs, and just doesn't want her credit card info out there . I have tried to explain to her, that someone stealing her credit card info is unlikely, and in most cases you are not held responsible for fradulent charges. But understandably, she just doesn't want to use it.


So does anybody know a way around that part of the accoutn creation?
 
they sell prepaid cards for it at walmart, so maybe you buy the card first and it acts like the CC number or something
 
Yeah, I know how the cards work, i use them on my account. Not sure if they would work in place of a credit card for sign up though, since it asks you what type of card it is, MC, Visa, etc. and it wants a security code form the back of the card.

I can't believe they would require a credit card, since you can use the prepaid cards, but I don't know
