Can you set Win2k to automatically lock a machine after a certain amount of time?

Damn roommate blasted off about 20 pages off my inkjet printer while I was home for the long weekend (I know because Lexmark puts a printer file in the root directory that show when the last time a page was printed, and the dumbass didn't clear the history or documents folder).

Is there a way to have it automatically lock after say...30 mins?

Edit Start>Control Panel>Power Options to have your computer go into standby after a certain amount of time idle. Then go to the 3rd tab and check the box to ask for password when coming out of standby. That will be your regular windows password (it's like using ctrl+alt+del -> + space to lock a win2k or nt4 system).

Hmm, I don't even see a standby option in Win2k anymore. Win98 had all that...
Is standby disabled in desktop installations of Win2k?

If you password protect a screensaver in Win2k, it asks you to Ctrl-Alt-Del before you enter your password, just like the "Lock Computer" button.

<< p.s., if he wants it that bad, he can always just restart your PC... >>

Actually, since he's running Win2k, he should be fine. Unlike Win98's weakass password protection, Win2k won't let you simply hit "Cancel" and start Windows. So even if his roommate hits the reset button when met with the password-protected screensaver, he won't get in when it boots without the password. Of course, your RC5 cracking will come to a halt if the PC is reset.

Just remember to use a blank screensaver when you want to do that. No CPU usage. :p

I set the screensaver for Windows Logon with password protect. Works like a charm ;)

Take your cpu with you.

Your roomate sounds like your mortal enemy.
Maybe you should consider have him eliminated.
Best way to do it, when he is sleeping, upload any ms os not nt into his brain...
