Can you sense wether something was played locally from the devices drive to being streamed from the internet?

Same identicle media bits. One on drive, one played from the internet

Someone blind folds you, gave you headphones, puts a gun to your head, and makes you guess if the song play was from the drive or streamed from internet. He plays the song twice. He makes you guess which play was streamed and which was local. Play number one or play number 2. Same songs.

Could you save your life more than dying or will it always be a 50 percent success/failure rate ?

If it's the exact same identical media bits, as in there is no transcoding taking place, I wouldn't expect there to be an audible difference.

Depends on codec, bit rate and if your Internet connection is stable.

With a proper buffer so they both play perfectly? Absolutely not. I would never be able to tell the difference.

Without a buffer so the streaming comes in jumps and jerks? Probably.
