Can you run two 5770's independently (not in Xfire)?

Hi,

Conceptual question. If I had a two 5770's in a P8P67 Pro, would it be possible to run them NOT in Crossfire mode, but individually? I.E. one being used for games, graphics, etc, but the other one used exclusive for GPU calculations (like Folding @ home)?

If so, is the setup hard?

Also, assuming that they could run independently, would it work with one 5770 and one 5870?

I do that all the time with a mixed nvidia setup, gtx 260 and 9600 gso. Process is the same for AMD cards as well. You can even do it with 1 nvidia and 1 amd card if you want to get creative. I run seti 24/7 on both gpus b/c that's my backup rig/kid's dora computer. Amazingly, a gtx 260 can look for aliens AND display dora's abnormally large head at the same time!
