Can you run older LGA775 processors on the upcoming 955X chipset?

Just wondering because I think dual-core is a waste of money right now, but might be a nice option in the future. I also have 2GB of ECC DDR2, and I would actually like to have the ECC functionality; so it would be nice if I could swap my 3.6 Prescott onto a new 955X board.

I haven't read anything in regards to backwards compatibility for older LGA775 CPUs Online, and I was just wondering what the official word is.

Yes is the answer. Read Maximum PC May2005 on news-stands now. pages 38 & 39. If the FSB is 800 or 1066. It will handle celeron; Pentium 4; Pentium D; Pentium Extreme Edition. Dual Channel DDR2/400 DDR2/667 This chipset is the launch partner for Intels dual-core CPU's. It has everything except licensed support for SLI.
