Can you rent 'wet' vacuums?

I've seen steam cleaners for rent at grocery stores, is there any place to rent wet vacuums from? Both of my (window-mounted) A/C units decided to start leaking/draining water inside my apartment this week. I've had them for over a year and never had this problem until now. I remounted them tilted (and used duct tape for the gaps along the window edges) but I have about 3 or 4 square feet of Persian rug that's soaked :(

You can buy wet/dry shop vacs for under $50, why would you want to rent one?

Hey man, I know this isn't quite the answer you were looking for, but theres always a $~20 Shop-Vac model at Home Depot/Lowes. For just a bit more than you would pay for a rental you can have one for yourself, and trust me, these things are really useful. I don't know what I would do without mine.

How long does the sale last? I think my local Sears closes in 25 minutes.

btw - in an emergency you can use the "steam cleaners for rent at grocery stores" - just don't fill the tank with water :)

Shop Vacs are awesome. Good for cleaning out the car also. I've easily save the cost of my shop vac with the savings from the car wash's vacuum.

Hmmm, I wonder if that would cost the same as buying the cleaner I ordered, or less. I would have done that instead and gotten it done tonight. Oh well....

Yeah, I remember years ago one night at our old house, the washing machine kept going and wouldn't stop pumping water onto the floor and basement carpet for at least an hour. It also shook so hard a bottle of bleach fell off it and split open, turning a patch or carpet white. We borrowed our neighbor's ShopVac the next day and it took care of it all, though I did have to empty it out once.
