Its an old book series maybe 15-20 years old, maybe newer. In the story, a group of college students were playing a game (D&D by another name) and the professor (their DM) sent them into the world the game was based on. Each person turned into their game character.
The series was their adventures in that world.
A buddy of mine remembers reading this, or something like it, but he can't remember the author or the series name. Its one of those things that drive you nuts, and I'm hoping the ATOT effect can solve this problem, and tell us what the series was called.
