Can you recommend a TV?

Right now I have an old 55" projection mitsubishi. My family bought a new house (we have two), and we can either get something like $500 thats decent for the new house, or get something like ~$1000-1200 (depends on how much we get for the money) for our normal house, and put our current 55" in the new house. Anything really nice for this money?
