but I don't want just a list of names, I want something for this specific need:
a friend is going to be putting on weekly/biweekly events of various djs. he wants to be able to easily update a front "news" page with the next event, which can be linked to a calendar giving full details. he also wants a photo gallery that supports multiple albums.
the forum isn't that big a deal, we can do without... blogs and all the other doodads are a non-issue as well, but it must do the news/calendar/gallery thing and it must do them very well, very very integrated so it's all the same theme and all.
so yeah can I have some recommendations? thanks! php/mysql or .net either are fine

EDIT I guess I should also say that I've tried joomla and drupal, didn't care for them one bit, too much stuff! just need it simple... upload, configure, run. no download additional this and configure new that...
e107 was cool but it's very quirky and ugly and i could never get things to integrate well (the gallery stuff is horrible, it's just a bridge to other providers like gallery2 or coppermine... i don't need anything that fancy, I want it all to be part of the actual cms, not a plugin)
okay thanks!
