hey all, I need a bot for my mIRC channel, one that will run games like trivia and acrophobia and such. I seem to be having a terrible time finding one! I see them in trivia chat rooms all the time but I don't know which one they use or where they get those great questions :(

can someone recommend me a bot that I can install that has these features? thanks so much in advance

eggdrop bots are some of the best (or were), and have a large modding community. mechs might be working a bit better these days, but I'm not sure about the mods.

i tried messing with an eggdrop but I just couldn't figure it out. I'm spoiled by the windows days and forgot how to use command line interfaces :p

i was hoping for something like dreambot that runs over mirc that I can tick off a trivia button or something but that doesn't seem to be likely :(

Yeah, only "one of lesser intelligence" would use BitTorrent to download things  Also, IRC allows for fun-fun-super-leeching-good-happy-time :D.

Oh and I always just wrote my own scripts for things like trivia and such.. the IRC language is so easy to write for :x. So I don't really know any off-hand... I kind of came in here expecting just to throw out "IRoffer" but that's not what you're looking for ;).

What does that have to do with IRC?

Only pirates and vandals use IRC.

Just citing a common use of the program to debunk the audacious and ludicrous statement made by jfall. In other words, your remark was completely baseless.

Also, to the other guy, who said the downloads are necessarily illegal on IRC? IRC just allows for greater control over simply throwing the files out on some HTTP server or attempting to use some php script to manage things (God those are annoying yet so easy to get around).

does everything have to be about piracy? :p

I just want to add a trivia bot to my channel, it's an actual CHAT channel. people still do chat you know :p

where do the dedicated trivia chat rooms get those great scripts?! I can't find a decent one anywhere!

I was going to recommend Eggdrop because it's what I know and used to run as a channel bot on undernet. I don't know any other bots, but I haven't been very active on IRC over the last few years. I mostly just idle in a few channels.

If it wasn't clear, I was joking. :)

eggdrops are the biggest (legit) bots out there. It'd probably be best to learn to use one. :)

I can't vouch for the legitimacy of this site, but it was the first link in google: http://www.mircscripts.com/cgi-bin/file.php?id=334
