My hand printing looks remarkably like cuneiform.I typically write in cursive, my handwriting is not beautiful and has degraded a bit since secondary school though I think anyone with a functioning brain can read it, and I had no idea what cuneiform was until I read this thread and googled it.
Aren't you in your early/mid 30s? Computers were definitely a thing, but I guess maybe not in the ass end of Canada where you live.Have not done it in so long but yeah I can do it. Not very good at it though and way slower than typing. I grew up in an era where computers were not really a thing so pretty much everything was written, but only near the end did computers start to become more popular but lot of classes still wanted us to do stuff by hand. Computers were kind of seen as cheating. Even in a programming class in college I had one teacher insist we code on paper. That sucked. I don't code linearly like that, makes it very hard to jump around and change/add code. Thankfully at one point they let us use notepad at least. I think the point of doing it on paper was so we don't compile or use syntax highlighting etc.
As a side note my signature has evolved over the years too. I had to update something at my bank, don't remember what, but my signature from when I was like 8 was still on the document and yeah, I don't sign like that anymore.![]()
I can relate to that...carpal tunnel syndrome (onset at 12 yo), arthritis by my 30s, and trigger finger tendonitis prevent me from writing more than a few sentences at a time now. By the time I finish writing out a check to pay bills...my hand is already starting to cramp and hurt.I used to be able to, no if i try to write more than a sentence my fingers start to cramp up really badly...
I rarely write anything by hand at all these days... it's so tedious and laborious compared to typing.I’m 32, was taught cursive in school and use it regularly. None of my friends my age or coworkers use it and most have crap handwriting. I’ve always found it worthwhile to try to do well for no reason other than aesthetics.
I doubt it’s the same “official” cursive I was taught in school at this point but it looks nice and people say so on the rare occasion anyone but me sees my handwriting.
my chicken scratch is indecipherable.
Yep...I shoulda been a doctor. (my tieping ain't much better)
LoL no way I am going to be responsible for saving people. I don't care enough.
