Can you put two different ATI graphics cards in a Mac Pro?

I just bought a Mac Pro (yes, I know there are revisions coming out in a few months, but I need to upgrade now) and am going to be using it to replace a PC that is powering a 30" Display + 2x 20" displays (rotated). Since I'll need two video cards to power three displays, I'm considering purchasing a Radeon 3870 to go along with the Radeon HD 2600 XT that it comes with. Anyone know if I'm inviting myself for any driver/compatability issues by running two different graphics cards that run off the same chipset? I would think this would be fine but don't want to risk it unnecessarily. I'd be powering the 30" off the 3870 and the other two monitors on the 2600XT.

I see no problem with multiple vid cards, but I've read that, for optimal performance, they must be "officially" supported by Apple. I'm not positive, but the 3870 should be fine in that case.

K -- I'd be getting the HD3870 "Mac" edition which should be officially supported. Looking at Mac Mall right now as I can't really tell the difference between the ATI and Sapphire versions other than a $100 price difference.
