I went to Microcenter to find a new CPU fan for my CPU since mine broke. They only had the heatsinks for my processor socket but no fan included.

Is it possible to stick an 80mm case fan on a heatsink?

Its just a "fan", not specifically for a CPU or case.

If your heatsink takes an 80mm fan it will fit, if it doesn't it won't. Also be aware there different thicknesses as well (10mm, 15mm, 25mm, 32mm, ect.) that may be factor.

I guess my previous statement isn't 100% correct some heatsinks use non-standard fans that don't forgo the square frame (the fan is the same though).

What heatsink do you have?

I'm guessing Intel stock cooler...but I'm just guessing...

Might end up having to replace the whole heatsink + fan assembly.
