Can you push-start a carbied car with an immobiliser..

An immobilizer usually disables the fuel pump or coil to prevent it from being started.

So probably not.

have to have an immobiliser fitted to all cars here when they are reigistered in the state...

mines a '89 mazda 323 hatch, 232,000km 😉

What does that mean exactly? What is the definition of "immobiliser" ???

Edit: My bad, I saw the post about "WA state" and then this guy saying "the state" and thought it was the same poster... Now that I know that you're talking about Australia, it is all more clear. 🙂

Possibly - however I have seen plenty of devices marketed as such that are simply a starter interrupt. So you could push start the cars just fine.
 
Well if it kills the power to the coil find the power lead to the coil and cut it, then run a hot wire straight from the battery to it and then the car should start. Only problem I see is that if it cuts off the power I am assuming you dont have the keys. So if it has a locking wheel how do you plan on turning it or is where your going in a straight line? Or a circle if its locked to the left or right 😛

Ignition system on a carbed car would be to not power the coil. Its not injected so if the motor turns over which it will when you push start it and pop the clutch it will draw fuel into the engine. Just need to get the power back to the coil.

BUT this is assuming also that it is not a mid 80's with an electric controlled quadra-junk carb. Then you be screwed. If not find the main power and switched power leads to the coil. Hot wire them and push start the car.
