Can you plug in a molex connecter while the PC is running?

I want to plug in a fan while the system is running, possible? Will it fry anything?

fans should be ok, do not do it with anything else though. I have unplugged fans from fan controllers (and plugged them back in while running), and also from molex connectors while running (though I cant remember if I also plugged that one back in while running or just unplugged).

5v yes, 12v sometimes but you have to plug in quick and direct.
