Can you plug a 4G USB mobile broadband adapter into say a typical Android tablet?

(presumably with a micro USB to standard USB adapter, or perhaps a mobile broadband adapter that has a micro-USB plug on it rather than standard USB)

If not, I suppose an alternative would be to use a wireless mobile broadband modem/router device and tether the tablet to it wirelessly so the tablet can get an Internet connection.

Thoughts?

Yes, as long as the tablet supports USB OTG.

Edit: Apparently it is a more involved process. Heh.

I just use my phone and tether my tablet to the phone. If you don't want to get a tethering plan on your phone try pdanet to get around the carrier restrictions.
