OK - Basically i really love the apple ibook 12" and am on the verge of buying one (P.S. - if anyone knows of a laptop with a 12" screen that runs windows and is as sleek as the apple, can you tell me what is the model?)

Anyway, what is still taunting me is wheater i can play a game (say UT2003) on a network between the apple ibook and my windows pc? I know i will need a pc copy of the game and an apple copy, but will they be able to connect with each other in a LAN?

yes
protocols are os and hardware independent

TCP/IP is just a protocol and is basically the same on mac, windows, nix , x86, Powerpc, Sparc, ...

that why you can connect on an gameserver running Linux with a windows PC.
that's why in the corporate world a lot of servers are running Linux with Wintendo clients

it's transparant

so, it doesn't matter if they are different versions of the game? (quake 3 for apple and quake 3 for windows, for example...)
