... I have a CC that earns me 1% cash back. If I can just pay my mortgage every month with the CC, that alone is $10 credited back to me by the CC peeps.

So:

1) is this even possible?
2) if it is, is it looked down upon by mortgage lender(s) as not having good credit, etc.

Paying mortgages with CCs would be the holy grail for people with rewards cards. AFAIK, it can't be done.

It would be up to the lender, but the answer is almost guaranteed to be no.

Why would they want to give up 3+% on their loan so that you can get rewards?

Gift/convenience checks MIGHT work...

AMEX gift checks might work, $2.95 charge for buying them...

$2.95 per 1000 United miles, that would be a pretty good deal.

I could use this to get me & the g/f some frequent flyer miles while I pay off my CC debt:

1) Buy $1000 AMEX gift check on her United rewards card
2) Send her $1000 cash
3) Send the check to my CC company

$2.95 per 1000 miles, not a bad deal.

[EDIT]Sh!t, only denominations up to $100... Bah. $2.95/$100 = not worth it.[/EDIT]

You could use those convenience checks that go on your CC, but you typically don't get any rewards for using them. If you don't get the FF miles or the cashback or whatever, there's no point.

Those convenience checks usually count as cash advances and they beat the piss out of you on the fees and accruing interest daily.
