Can you pause live TV thru a video card?

Yeah most TV capture cards come with software to do this. I have never used it though so I can't really comment on it. I usually buy the cheaper tv cards without those sort of features too (ATI's tv wonder ve model doesn't have the TIVO stuff, it can capture video but can't pause and do it all automatically).

My radeon 9600 Pro AIW has "tivo" functions, works pretty good also and has pause button that works.

do you plug your cable from the wall into the card and also have an output to the TV, both normal cable wires? (I don't know what you call that kind of cable).

And how do you change channels?

Thanks.

I wanted to run my 7500 AIW as a TIVO, but there are some issues I should tell you about.

1. I couldn't program more than one show at a time. I'd get an error for the second show.

2. If you're running XP you have to be logged in only as the person that scheduled a show or you'll get an error.

3. After recording a show fastforward is spotty at best on Good quality, on DVD quality it will generally error out of what you are watching.

4. 1 hour of DVD quality is about 5 Gigs, 1 hour of good quality is about 2 gigs.

5. Using the included x10 controller for sound is pretty much useless. There is no real range on the control. Sound should be controlled from the PC only

6. Programs will not record, and errors occur for no reason at all sometimes.

Having said all of that I'm still somewhat happy with the 7500 AIW. Keep in mind that the tuner has not changed from the 7500 to the 9800 AIW. It's only the 3D that has become better. I bought the 7500 for next to nothing and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, just be aware that if you are buying it for a hassle free TIVO, you're buying the wrong product. It's a great answer for those on a budget neading all things in their PC.
