Can you "paste" in gmail?

I've noticed that when creating a message (or replying) with gmail, that I can't right click and paste. I can copy but the paste option doesn't even appear. Am I overlooking something simple here or is this just a consequence with gmail?

Thanks

Of course you can... it's a regular free-form text field. Works fine.

Whatever you copied from must not have taken in your clipboard. Sometimes that happens... but I don't know how you could have noticed this to be an often-occuring thing.

Are you using the plain-text formatting or the rich text (WYSIWYG) formatting. Using PT, I have no problems using the right-click context menu to cut/copy/paste. But, those options don't even show up if you use rich text.

Okay...that was it. You cannot paste when using the rich text. If you right lick when using rich, "Paste" doesn't even show up as an option. I figured it was something so simple that I was looking past the obvious. Seems like they would allow that option even with rich text though. Thanks!

Well, I'm not an HTML expert by any means, but it appears to be a limitation due to the differences between the RTF and plain-text. The PT is a simple text box while the RTF is not.
