can you mute an APC UPS?

I need to stop this damn APC UPS backup pro USB from making a racket at night.. the battery is shot and it keeps beeping rapidly for 20minutes at the slightest fluctuation in power. its only 2 years old and the battery is already shot, I'm really not very impressed at all with it...

My APc is close to 5 years old and the batteries are still good although it does seem to be very sensitive to power fluctuations. Every time someone turns the garbage disposal on the damn thing shreiks at me.

If you don't want to listen to it, just open the case and unplug the noisemaker or cut the wires, whichever gives you the most pleasure.

I have an older model that has a jumper on the back to turn off the buzzer. I am sure there is some way to do it.
