Can you make a wi-fi router into a wi-fi adapter?

Here at work we have a Linksys wireless router on it's own subnet. What I'm trying to do is use my Netgear MR814 wireless router in my office to connect to the wi-fi network being broadcast by the Linksys router.

I disabled DHCP in the Netgear router, released and renewed my ip, and got nothing. It would not renew the ip.

Is what I'm trying to do even possible? And if so, how?

Thanks in advance.

You can get a media converter, Linksys makes 'em.

There are a few other products that function the same, going from ethernet to wireless, acting as a client to another AP. You can look on 'bridge' as well, although most (not all) devices that are marketed as bridges only connect to other AP's of the same brand. The Media converters above act as clients and should work with any brand WAP's of the same wireless type (802.11b/g etc)

You can find threads if you search on adapters for XBOX or PS2 or ReplayTV type things.

Good luck.
