Can you make a dedicated server yourself then use it as a ranked server?

Would it be possible to build yourself a dedicated ranked server for Battlefield 2, Counter Strike Source and a few other games?

I know in BF2 you had to be an authorized server provider by EA basically.

Oh okay, but would it work in CSS and other non ranked games then?

You can build a dedicated server for CSS. You can download it through steam but there is a better way (command line) that doesn't use steam. I believe you need two steam accounts if you want to be able to host the server and play at the same time.

Yeah, would this be possible through Linux though?
