i'd rather play a real sport for 30 minutes and lose weight. its cheaper too. the only ones who will use a wii as an exercise regiment are fatties who suck at sports.

Although I agree with you it's better in term of fun and result to play real sport, but you can't deny that Wii sports is more convenient than "real sport" for some people.

i guess. but there still isnt a worthy alternative to playing a sport. IMO, they're missing out.

There are other factors too, like here in Alaska, I can't exactly go out and play football or baseball or soccer this time of year. The only place with indoor tennis requires $100/month membership fee. Unless you ski or snowboard, exercise is hard to come by. Even jogging is tough because no matter how much they prep the streets, it's still easy to slip and fall. For the winter, I'd welcome something like the Wii to tide me over until summer. So far, it's working pretty good. I work up a good sweat with the Wii sports.

i guess, but your situation isnt exactly common.

i would believe it. just do boxing for 30 minutes.

but yeah its no subsititue for a real exercise program.

I get REALLY into Wii Boxing. It's like doing aerobic kickboxing when I play. 😛

Yeah, I've built up a pretty good sweat during longer bouts of boxing.

According to the article he lost 9 pounds in six weeks. Assuming that you have to burn 5250 calories to lose 1.5 pounds per week that would mean that he would have to burn 750 calories working out per day to reach that goal. I'm guessing that he did more to burn the 750 cal/day than play wii for 30 minutes. Just my .02
