Can you log in to your files through the lan

Is it possible to make users log in to your computer if they want access through the lan?...is there a way to log into your own files throught the lan?

When i try to connect to a windows 2000 machine I'm asked to log in...i do so as adminstrator or another account, i was wondering if that's possible with windows xp

Thanks

If you have Windows XP Professional you can. You have to disable simple file sharing, which is done by going to Folder Options -> View and its at the very bottom of the list. You then pretty much do it the same as you would with 2000, by creating the necessary accounts and setting the correct restrictions
