can you keep your aol email address if you cancel their service?

i have a friend shes been using aol for a long time. but trying to get her to get at least a low dsl plan. if she cancels her aol can she still get her mail or do they delete her account?

I'll tell you right now, even if you do absolutely everything right, there's a 30-40% chance AOL will kill your email anyway, and when you call them to yell at them they'll refuse to talk to you because you're not a paying member anymore.

I used to work for them, just trust me on this one. Be very, very, VERY clear you want to keep your email if you speak to a live person about it.

I believe AOL service is now FREE if you have broadband access to connect to it.
