The first time I got sick was maybe 2 months ago (common cold), then like 2-3 weeks I got sick again (common cold), and just starting this saturday I started to get sorethroat, stuffy nose, aches and pains (symptoms of a common cold).... Is this possible? I used to not get sick and all the sudden im getting sick 3 times within a 2 months span. Its really pissing me off because I thought you build an immunity to these virus once you have been through the process of a common cold.

Are you sure it's a cold and not allergies? Allergies often have similar symptoms to colds and can recur frequently?

have you been getting less sleep? eating worse food? Changed something in your sleep/eating habits basicaly? i notice that especially during finals i get sick, because i tend to eat less frequently, less health concious, and also am sleeping less...i've fixed that the past 3 semesters though, and have stopped the all nighters, definitely do better on finals and feel better too!

I get sick about 1-2 times a year at the most. The things that I credit to me staying well are sleeping 7-8 hours a night, eating well, and working out a lot.

Maybe you've got pneumonia like me ... it can drag on a long, long time if not diagnosed & treated.

If your immune system is teh suck then, yes it's completely possible. Especially if you work in an environment with a lot of really sickly co-workers/customers/ect.

Next year get a flu shot. Eating healhty and exercising also boost your immune system.

i thought antibiotics only worked for bacterial infections...viruses aren't affected by them, correct?

You can build an immunity against a particular virus but that doesn't necessarily improve your resistance against over viruses.

The best things you can do is:

1. Frequently wash your hands with hot soapy water.
2. Keep your hands away from your face.

Two years ago in December, I first had the flu. 2-3 weeks later I have a mild case of bronchitis. 2 weeks later I get the cold, sore throat, etc.... 2 weeks later I get scarlet fever. Unhappy times.

The point of all this? Never go home during winter break in a house with people that are sick. Just stay at your place during break cause you can't get sick since no one else is at home.
