Can you keep a second monitor active when using SLI on a dual monitor setup ?

Did Nvidia ever address this, or is it still not possible ? I want to be in-game with my SLI setup, and have a second monitor with web browser etc. open.

Can I do this ? Is there any way ?

Thanks in advance.

You can't do this well with any set up. Full screen locks the mouse, etc. You still have to alt-tab out to browse, etc so you aren't missing much. Now, you could play in windowed mode, I guess, but in games without a mouse pointer, where you mouselook, that isn't going to help.

it comes in handy if you're reading a walkthrough :)

Yeah, you can leave something up on a second screen, but as far as active use, you can't.

So do you guys think it's worth it to still use a second monitor ? (I have one sitting right next to me not being used)

I have my main monitor as my laptop (i use it in bed) and a 42" LCD at the foot of the bed ~6.5 ft. i use the TV as a second monitor with a movie or something while i do work or something productive on the laptop screen. However while gaming i switch the laptop monitor and TV. Where the TV is the game and the laptop has a movie, or a guide or something open. So i cast my vote for it being worth it ;)

oh, i misunderstood what he was originally asking. i thought he was asking if you can have dual monitors in general with SLI. i thought back in the 8x00 days you could even use dual monitors for leaving something up on the screen with SLI.

on a side note, i just hit the windows button to get out of a game instead of alt + tab :D

Starcraft 2 offers windowed Full screen mode with the ability to lock the mouse in the 'windowed fullscreen' Starcraft window. I wish EVERY game had this, it's amazing. Your main monitor stays full screen but you can click out to whatever you want, including what's behind Starcraft 2.
