I have the windows xp boot disc but all I have for keyboards is my logitech mx1000 bluetooth and my friends microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.1.

Do I need to go buy a wired keyboard to re-format and re-install windows?

Specs:
Abit NF7
AMD 2500+ mobile

I have the boot cd in the computer and it says "Press any key to boot from CD" but when I press keys nothing happens and windows boots like normal. Would a PS/2 keyboard help with this issue?

Make sure that the BIOS are set to support USB via the BIOS, and it should work.

When the computer Boots press the DEL, if you get the BIO via the Wireless it means that it works without Windows.

On the other hand you can find a simple wired Kbd for less than $10.

Thanks for the reply! I can get into the bios using the keyboard and made sure USB 2.0 was enabled. CD-ROM is the 1st boot device listed in my bios as well. After this is where I run into problems.

My keyboard works for:
1. Getting into the bios, and everything else

My keyboard DOESN'T work for:
1. Entering AWD Flash (for flashing my mobo)
2. When my computer says "Press any Key to boot from CD"
3. After I've shut down my computer by just pressing the power button. I cannot select the options "Start windows normally, Start windows in safe mode etc."

I'll be picking up a wired keyboard from one of my friends tonight and hopefully that is the issue.

Many thanks AT-GH! You guys have helped me through soooo many computer problems.

Enable "Legacy USB Support". That forces USB recognition during post. (It's not for using old USB keyboards!)

I have an MX Duo, and had to use a wired keyboard to install XP on a P4P-800E/Deluxe...tried everything listed here, nothing worked. So when I built a new system around a BadAxe II a couple years ago, I didn't even bother trying with the MX Duo, I just pulled out my old wired keyboard again...maybe the Duo would have worked, but I just didn't want to waste a bunch of time troubleshooting again, and would simply kick myself if it didn't work again.
