I haven't bought it yet, although I was kind of interested in the Best Buy offer today that gives you a "free" DVD with the purchase.

Now, if I decided to get it , I wanted to know if I can do the same thing I do with Windows 98. In other words, I can reformat my hard drive and do a "clean" install of Windows98 UPGRADE version, by just sticking my Windows95 cd into the Cdrom drive when it does a "verification" of prior ownership.

Then it reads the Windows95 cd, asks me to put the Windows98 cd back in, and I can do a fresh install.

Does Windows XP allow you to do the same thing??

I would rather do a fresh install, than have it just install over Windows98.

Thanks.

I don't have the upgrade myself but yes you can do the same thing. It'll just ask you for your Win98 CD or something. It's good to save you a few bucks.
