Can you import Baldur's Gate characters into Icewind Dale or BG2?

I have Baldur's Gate and am nearing the end of it, and am wondering if I can import my character into Icewind Dale or BG2, because they are bargain titles now, and I might try them out.

BG2 and the Throne of Bhaal expansion were both a lot of fun, with a bit more story than BG1. IWD had less story than BG1 but was OK.
