I was wondering if you could hook up a router to the school's network?

I want to hook up two computers to one ip.
I bought a Linksys router and tried to hook from the wall to the router and from the router to one computer

I can't seem to get this to work and was wondering if anyone has ever done this

Do they hand out ips based on MAC addresses? Have you talked to the admin staff? Have you turned on proxy-arp (*watches for spidey07 ;))?

Its a hardware address on your NIC. whatis.com can be your friend. Look it up because its late and Im having trouble thinking of an easy way to explain it ;)

Yep, make sure you check with the school's network admins, though. Misconfigure that router and you take down the whole network.
