Can you hook a PS2 directly to a monitor?

Most of the google searches I found were very old and things have changed. Does anyone do this?

I basically want to hook my PS2 up to a computer monitor without the help of the computer.

you might need a converter. I don't have a ps2 but for my xbox i had to buy a separate xbox-vga adapter. (bought on ebay for 5 bucks)

The PS2 doesn't have VGA out, if that's what you're looking for.

I recently purchased a monitor with component inputs and Faroudja scaling - best way to go if you have the option.

Another note that the Dell 2005fpw has composite & s-video inputs. I don't have a PS2, but my PS1 works fine 😛

Have the Dell 2407 - be prepared though - if it's anything like mine, the component inputs are crap. The PS2 looks god-awful, but it's playable if you feel you *have* to do it.

Scaling almost always adds lag. Certainly irrelevant for RPGs and puzzle games, but not for fighting games and sports games.

I have yet to notice any issues with delays so far. I have a 22" Gateway monitor, 1680x1050, supports 720p/1080i.

Great monitor! If it had a TV tuner and a remote, it would be perfect as a TV too. My only gripe is overall picture quality isn't the best, as compared to my 2005FPW.
