3) i am using all of Microsoft office 2000 such as word, access, excel and publisher all the programs work except Publisher.... dont matter if i insert text or pictures everything on the page shows up as light blue but when i print it out on paper everything is the correct colour.

wayne44,
It sounds like you may have several problems. Without more details it's hard to be positive but my gut says you should just start over and please lay off the BOLD. A few basic thing to check:
Check for updated BIOS for your MB.
Check any jumpers on the MB.
Reset you MB BIOS back to defaults.
Get the latest drivers for everything.
Can the CDRW read a CD?
Have you tried different brands of CDRs?

Also,

I've found ASUS motherboards to be quite picky about RAM. Some may argue this point but I've used several and it's been true of everyone. (Currently using the A7V333)

Looking at your hardware choices, do you work for ASUS or own stock in them?

I think it's the power supply.

If you upgraded from an older system, check if the PSU has at least 300w. Your components are pretty juice consuming.

This board is extremely power hungry with all of its built-in features and sometimes the ATX line from a generic PS does not have enough to give it the juice it needs. I have been having Power related problems with this board and an XP 2400+. About to upgrade to an Antec 430W.
