Ok, I've gotta E6400 w/ stock cooling. The other day after removing one of my HD's, the long wire from my 120mm case fan got tangled on the blade of my CPU fan for a sec, i didn't notice it until my comp beeped at me and i seen that my temp was 59c (i use Fox One, came with mobo) and so i quickly shut'er down and then noticed the fan. So i untangle it (wasn't bad, just enuff to stop it) and then start back up. Now EVERYTIME i go into fox one, it'll do fine for a sec, but then the Alarm goes off telling me that my cpu fan has stopped, then it jumps to 2200ish rpm again. It'll do this over and over, just intermittently. I've sat and watched that fan and it doesn't slow-down at all. I figured maybe the program was messed up, somehow, so i uninstalled w/ no results. So I got scared and went to Fry's and bought a brand new HS/F and installed it, SAME THING. So its obviously not the fan itself. So i've now formatted and everything, re-installed the stock hs/f once again, and its STILL doing it!!! Can someone please help me figure this out? Any more info needed just ask.

Its on a FoxConn 975X7AB
C2D E6400 Stock Cooler
no O/C done

My heats are around 43c right now idle. Altho I could have swore that Fox One was telling me 20-22c all this time, but...i don't have proof of that. Is this a good temp for my cpu to be at w/ no o/c'ing done?

do you have a hardware monitor in your BIOS?
That is usially better to go by for temps. You may be able to stop
the problem if you reset the CMOS, somtimes the hardware monitors
use the BIOS.

yea, my bios and hardware monitor are completely different. As i said w/ FoxOne gets about 43c, but i can reboot and go straight into the bios and it'll be at 26c.

I'm having more probs now though than before, lol. my comp is randomly rebooting. I've turned the temp reboot off in the bios so thats not causing it. Seems to be doing alright in safe mode though. I was having the same trouble last night, which is why i went thru the trouble for FORMATTING. What else could cause this prob????

You might try replacing the motherboard next. Maybe the monitoring IC got damaged. Also, if you leave your email address in your signature like that, you're going to get (more) Spam as a result, if that matters to you :)
