Hi Folks. Got this ROCK last week at a museum. I bought it because it looks 'cool.'

The only thing Is I have no idea what this rock is called. Sorry for the not so great pic, but it is a 'gold-ish' color. Sort of a dull gold color, with maybe some zinc mixed into the color. Its is VERY shiny, with many, many teeny, tiny crystals on the surface. So when you put it up to the light, it sparkles a lot.

I'd like to give this as a gift, but would like to know what type of specimen this is called.

Thanks everyone.

i know what is looks like, from teh crappy picture. It something with an H.. now i forget the name..

but its not pyrite.. though it has a lot of mica in it, and pyrite does have mica.

Unless you are joking, you are confusing it with hermaphrodite 😛

You know, the more I look at it, I'm pretty confident its Pyrite-a.k.a. Fools Gold. I just read how pyrite, when it is rubbed, it tends to loose its 'luster' or the 'shiny-ness' of its gold color. And this is already happening.

Thanks guys. And sorry bout the bum pic. But this is why I love ATOT!!
