Can you help me figure out what kind of plant I bought?

It's a good sized plant (in a 10" pot), it's an indoor plant, and it has large leaves that vary in color from yellow to green to red to even a black (maybe very dark green, but they look black with red veins). I tried finding a place online to find numerous plant species, but I couldn't find them.

It either begins with an "I" or an "L", and the name is about 10 letters long.

I'm stretching to remember details here, please help me.

That is almost exactly it, but it looks a little different. The leaves aren't that teardrop shape exactly, but the coloration is exactly it.

Does that help anyone?

If you provide a pic and are still stumped in a few hours (it's 2 am where I am) I can ask a plant science major I know.

Sounds like a Croton.

That picture is a Croton.
Bingo! I looked at a few pictures of Crotons and they looked a little off, but this page has pictures that exactly match mine:

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what it means when a bunch of the leaves turn a DEEP green (looks black) and red. I don't remember those leaves being that color when I brought it home, so I was worried about it.

Thanks for the offer. The pick linked above is EXACTLY like mine.

My problem is, see that middle picture of the three? Imagine the green part of that black, and all the orange... imagine that RED like deep cherry red. Seems like that wouldn't be right.

Crotons change color depending on sunlight and season. Mine are mostly green now but will turn all kinds of pretty colors in a few months.
