Can you guys recommend a good LCD for FPS gaming?

17" is about the size I'm looking for. I'd also like it to have a 16ms response time if possible.

Viewsonic VP171B. 16 ms response time. It rocks and all I play are FPS games.

Also look at the NEC 1760NX. It, the Viewsonic and the Hitachi CML174 all use the same 16ms AUO panel.

My vpl171b is reallly good. Although I might exchange it for a 22" NEC crt. They are about the same price

I prefer CRT and recommend that if you have room you get a CRT for better colors. Although LCD look better and better every year

Another vote for the Viewsonic VP171B. Very crisp, clear, vibrant colors and no ghosting in FPS games. I got mine at Dell online for $465 shipped, but you need online coupons for that price.

a semi-related question about LCDs.... does 16ms response mean that the screen is refreshed every 16ms, which equal approximately 62.5hz? Which on an LCD would be relatively good since there is no raygun flickering effect?

Yes..sort of. The whole screen is not redrawn, only the pixels that need to be (I think that is the way it works). There is no flicker at all. An LCD is MUCH better on the eyes than a CRT.
