Can you guys come up with an alternative to this mobo/cpu combo for the price? ECS K7VTA3 and Duron 1.6 for $80?

I have a friend looking at the AMD Duron 1.6GHz Bare CPU w/ ECS K7VTA3 (8.0c) combo for $80. I had him looking at this combo for $50 at Fry's (neither of us has a Fry's nearby), which was a great deal, but at $80, I'm sure I (we) can do better for a cpu/mobo copy.

Combos for around $80? What would you buy?

TIA,

Sal

At $50, it's a steal, but at $80, I seem to think that I can do better. I don't know..

Starting Jan 2 Frys will have that combo available for $40. I just don't know anything about this new Duron.

Where did you hear this? If so I'm going to have to run to frys and pick one up and overtime get a new setup for my little brother who is playing his snes games on some pentium233mhz with a frameskip of something ungodly like 9 ;)

It's in their ad in today's San Jose Mercury News. Price is good through Tuesday, I think. It's a bare CPU, so you'll need to budget for a HSF.

Kinda tempted myself, actually (you'll understand why if you look at my current rig).
