I had an old laptop that inexplicably broke one day. So instead of taking it in for repairs i though it'd be fun to take it apart. To cut a long story short, it is no more. I have an LCD screen though and so i though:
This Screen has 2 plugs one looks like its for power and the other looks like its for VGA.
Maybe i can connect it to a VGA card, stands to reason that you could.

The machine was a Dell Inspiron 3000 i think, if that matters at all

Anyone have any imformation on how i could set this up?

Note: I also have the HD dunno if it works but maybe i could hook that up, didn't have the heart to through it away, its so cute :)

i had no idea, having just joined the general hardware forums :-/ i talked to a guy i know who works at a computer store. He said there wasn't any way that he knows of... it seems so dam simple, there must be a way.

You can, but the price it costs to get the laptop LCD screen working with the computer wouldn't make it ghetto :) Whenever I see a thread asking about this I usually give a link on how to do it on HardForum, but their site is down for maintenance right now.

From what I remember, you have to buy a specific piece of hardware (LCD controller or inverter or something like that.. forgot) for the certain laptop screen for about $200 or so. Even then, it's supposed to be pretty slow. I believe you can buy the part from EarthLCD.com

I'm not really sure. I know that lots of people use laptop CD-Roms in their computers by using an adapter that you can buy, so it's probably possible.
