we have extremely tight security on our win2k boxes, and when users log in they are confronted by a battery of "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." warning messages. is there a way to scienlently cancel restricted operations?

What kind of restictions? If they are getting messages while just logging on, they may be a little TOO restrictive. You should only have to disable the run command, hide some drives, disable right click, disable access to the tools menu, etc. But none of those restictions would give an error during login. The user would only get an error if they, for example, typed windows key+r with a run restriction.

everytime we lax the restirctions on users, they abuse it, so no, weakening the settings is not an option for us. I think I know where its comming from, but I want to know if there is a way to scilence the error.
