We had a restaurant around in the late 1970s called ?Sirloin and Brew Unlimited.*? It was a chain of steak and beer places in California, nice atmosphere, steak or chicken, unlimited salad bar and all you can drink pitchers of beer. They also had a champagne night, too.

We?d show up either for a booth or in large groups for a long table. We?d immediately order pitchers of beer and break out a deck of cards for beer drinking games. Our food would arrive and we?d continue with the festivities through dinner and beyond. Those were fun and wild days. Sometimes we played cards and drank beer for hours. We always tipped the waitress well. She kept the beer flowing and we were happy.

We weren?t the only ones having a good time. A large group at another table were singing sailors? songs and swinging the swag lamps pretending that they were on a ship at sea. That was a fun place. We had some good times there.

We were kicked out one time because some clown in our party was making a pass at the waitress and said something to her. I was inspired to write this by the thread, ?Can fat people get kicked out of buffets??

Does anyone else have experience with all you can drink buffets?

I believe the correct name of the place was ?Sirloin and Brew Ltd.? We called it "Sirloin and Brew Unlimited" for obvious reasons.

Very old thread revived by new member.

How much did the all you can drink option run? I know some local bars around here have I think a $15 all you can drink night, but I've never made it out for it.

I know a few bulimics who have been kicked out and banned from buffets for binge/purging for hours at buffets.

edit: whoops, missed the drinking part of the title.

The beer or champagne was free with your meal. You paid $7.00 to $12.00 for dinner and drinks were free.

When I think about it, I rarely order alcohol with a meal, it's easy to make that dinner very overpriced. So free drinks with dinner was a great deal.

Sirloin and Brew Unlimited used to say you could get unlimited refills. This ran into problems with California law, so they changed their claim to "If you want more (beer or wine) we will give you more," with the explicit understanding that they could not serve more alcohol to people who were, or appeared to be, drunk.
Their steaks were very good. If you had to wait for a table they would serve you a glass of champagne while you waited. Their sangria was quite good. My wife and I used to eat at the Oakland and Fremont locations, and we were sorry to see the chain close.

A completely on-topic first post necro on a really obscure non-tech related topic. So weird.

This is a bizarre concept. Bars are designed for the purpose of getting people drunk. It's like a whore disengaging because the client got an erection.

Im fat cuz I eat garbage. Not because I eat a lot.

Buffets hold no interest for me, much less trying to abuse them.

I'll just add my 2 cents and say any business can deny service. But with the wedding cake BS I'm beginning to wonder.

Would be awesome if they played this song like every two hours.
