I want to get VOIP and use call forwarding on ported number that verizon currently provides. Is there a company that can get the ported number and forward the calls without installing any software or hardware on my side?

I know that Vonage has number porting available. I believe that you have to have their router installed (I don't think that a phone is needed). I do know that you can change all of your settings (VM, call forwarding, etc.) via their web dashboard.

hmm VOIP is pretty broad. Some have it built in, some an add on, some it's not supported.

vonage and callvantage both have number forwarding thru the options on their website. You wouldn't need to have the actual telephone adapter hooked up for it to forward.

you couldn't port your number but you could get a new number from GrandCentral by Google and forward that number to anything you wanted.

viatalk -- yes, you access a web-interface and configure your account settings on their system
(very simple)

and also call-hunt for up to 5 numbers in succession, which could be usefull.

I imagine most voip providers have similarly easy ways to do it.

(viatalk has a 2yrs for the price of 1 + 2 numbers deal for $199 + $2.50/mo in whatever that tax is ( essentially $260 for 2 years) )

Works well for me... and I'm happy with them. But I've learned my lesson hyping my happy experiences with voip after being a sunrocket customer -- which shut down about a year ago with short notice. Many people got screwed -- i was lucky enough to get out with minimal $$ loss.
